The Town Clerk is the custodian of all birth, death and marriage records for the Town of Homer from 1882 until the present. For information, you may contact the Town Clerk’s Office.

Local History and Genealogy, Onondaga County Public Library
The Onondaga County Public Library’s Local History and Genealogy Department is a respected research center with extensive collections on genealogy and local and state history. They specialize in the history of Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York State, the New England States, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Librarians and materials are available to help answer a wide range of information needs from family history and genealogy to in-depth research on people, places and events in the Syracuse area.
A wealth of data is available in their One of a Kind Databases, as well as access to Local History and Genealogy Databases such as HeritageQuest Online and Ancestry Library. Some of these databases are available online from home, while others must be used at the library (some at downtown Syracuse NY, with others available at local branches).
You must have a valid Onondaga County Public Library (OCPL) card to access these materials. Nonresident OCPL cards may be obtained at the Service Desk on the Lobby Level at 447 S. Salina St., Syracuse NY.

Cortland County has a very active historical society which offers a substantial research facility covering birth and death records, information about various homes, families and businesses and other local history. You can visit their website for more information.

Parks, Sports & Recreation
The Town of Homer supports the Village of Homer Parks and Recreation programs at villageofhomer.recdesk.com/Community/Home. The Village of Homer parks can be used by town residents.
Albert J. Durkee Memorial Park
Located on Route 11, 1/2 mile north of the center of the Village. Durkee Park has a pavilion, picnic facilities, fishing spots, and a playground with newly installed equipment in a beautiful and quiet setting for the whole family to enjoy.
Harry A. Calale Park
Located on West Road (Route 281) before Prospect Street. This facility is used for softball, tee-ball, football and lacrosse.
George Vernum Memorial Park
Located on Main Street next to Homer Fire Station. This facility provides a lighted basketball/tennis court, box lacrosse games, and off street parking.
Griggs Memorial Field
Located on Hudson Street behind Newton Water Works, this facility has playing fields for baseball and softball. It is the home field of Homer Little League and Tee-ball.
Newton Park Located on the corner of Cayuga Street and Bartlett Avenue, three blocks west of Main Street. This park has a neighborhood recreation area with swings, spring rides, a slide, and a tee-ball diamond.
Newton Water Works Park Located on West Road (Route 281) near Route 41. This picturesque picnic area is used extensively by local organizations for group gatherings.
